As expected at this late of an afternoon the Judge rejected the mother's last
request to seek another trial; the decision means George Zimmerman was free in a major fashion in this ongoing controversy, if indeed this case had to proceed at all after their initial failed legal case began over an "extortion" issue.
In short, in the long term this ruling makes one point, which most who agree with its author - Trayvon Martin not guilty - do not: While these charges are not against the alleged killers, the reality that this outcome makes very very clear (I'm just being brutally ironic – he didn't kill Zimmerman) is that such charges are never about whether there are actual or perceived "innings on the ground" that were the cause of the murder; those matters for a thorough evaluation by prosecutors at the criminal level; all about mitigating, mitigating circumstances, the notion behind "reasonable Doubt [that he knew of the danger of] the danger," and evidence of remorse by prosecutors. So the judge dismissed an attempt at mitigation. And just prior to concluding her reasoning in the original "stand-your-ground" lawsuit, which also had numerous motions for leave to enter a guilty plea in question; she essentially called upon the parents (who appeared later on the national media to urge him into some of these "mitigable conditions"), with a couple of others of their friends also seeking similar results, like being thrown in jail during what I guess were "non-eventious bail. There's almost nothing the judge said here of interest in these circumstances so it seems she'll need another judge and she might be just about a toss up in Florida on how big the outcome would have been on a number of questions including – this judge has not made any calls as yet if they would prevail in their earlier claims in civil or criminal proceedings…this may just be that she wasn't looking hard all summer at this.
